THINGS that go bump in the night will be called upon in Clonegal this Hallowe'en when ghost lovers step inside Carlow's very own haunted castle for a candlelit tour.

Huntington Castle, in the village of Clonegal, is one of Ireland's most haunted castles and has been featured in books such as Haunted Realm and The Discovery TV series Castles Ghosts of Ireland with Robert Hardy, and this Hallowe'en it will host its very own ghost tour.

'Last year was the first year we put on something at Hallowe'en,' said castle owner Alexander Durdin Robertson. ' The response was fantastic with so many people saying what a great time they had, so we thought we would really go for it this year and we are pulling out all the stops to make sure it will be an amazing experience.'

The Castle has many resident ghosts, from the pirate queen Grace O'Malley whose family married Alexander's ancestors, to ghostly soldiers and monks from the Castles long history.

'People can expect to see and hear lots of things that go bump in the night,' added Harry Durdin Robertson, brother of Alexander, who is also the chief tour guide. 'We have no shortage of spirits to call on.' This year there will be two tours; family tours between 4 p. m and 6 p. m which will suitable for families and under 12's, and then after 6.30 p. m which is suitable for teenagers and adults only.

'We are also selling all the tickets in advance through our website and through tourist information office' adds Alex.

The candlelit tour will last approximately 40 minutes and will run daily between 4 p. m to 9.30 p. m between October 26 and 31. Tickets can be booked through
