LOCAL jeweller Ivan Tucker hosted the annual Retail Jewellers of Ireland (RJI) dinner dance in Carlow when more than 150 members of the jewellery trade gathered for a truly sparkling occasion
Ivan took over the chain of president of the RJI back in April last year. Ivan, of Douglas Jewellers on Tullow Street, is following in his father Ken's footsteps as he held the position back in 1977.
Designer Paul Costelloe visited as guest speaker on the night at the black tie affair in Mount Wolseley and everyone enjoyed music by well known saxophone player Paddy Cole.
The RJI was established in 1966 by a group of jewellers to encourage its members to be specialist jewellers with professional standards.
In two weeks the association will launch a dedicated One for All gift card for jewellery stores around Ireland.
'Most of our members are long standing, they have had shops in the business for a long time,' said Ivan Tucker. 'Our aim is to lobby on different issues for our members and to achieve the best in quality and service for our customers.'
