Top golfer Pádraig Harrington is among those already supporting Lollipop Day in aid of the Oesophageal Cancer Fund.

Volunteers from the Carlow area are being sought out to help with Lollipop Day 2014. The days, which this year takes place on Friday, February 28 and Saturday, March 1, aims to raise a considerable amount of money for the Oesophageal Cancer Fund (OCF) by selling lollipops nationwide.

Without the generosity and support of volunteers, the OCF would not be able to provide the vital role it does and this year they are once again calling on Carlow volunteers to give a few hours to a great cause and sell some lollipops for €2 each.

'We are very fortunate to have an ever increasing number of dedicated volunteers, all of whom make Lollipop Day possible and a success each year,' said Noelle Ryan, OCF Chairperson. 'But we still need more volunteers so if anyone or any group is interested in helping out, please contact us at www.lollipopday.ie.'

The OCF plays a vital role in raising awareness of oesophageal cancer, carrying out research and helping to achieve better outcomes for patients and their families all over Ireland.

If you would like to volunteer, visit the website above or contact Caroline Carthy on 059 9173033.
