Proud parents, teachers, lecturers and students all gathered to witness the presentation of 37 Academic Scholarships and 73 Sports Scholarships to IT Carlow Students.

Academic scholarships were awarded to students who had achieved the highest Leaving Cert score in their chosen course at IT Carlow, while the sports scholarships were awarded across a wide range of courses with the goal of supporting athletes with the talent and dedication to combine academic studies with excellence in sport.

Carmel Lynch, Director of Sport at IT Carlow said, 'The Sports Scholarship gives the elite sports person the opportunity to compete at the highest level while studying at the Institute.

'We are proud to be able to support such great sporting talent and we encourage all students to balance their time wisely to ensure that academic or sporting interests are not compromised. We are very proud of the success of our sports people at IT Carlow.'

Scholarships were awarded to students from all over Ireland and among the Carlow scholars was national sprint champion Marcus Lawler who has represented his country on several occasions and is now a student of Business and Law at the institute.

Dr. Patricia Mulcahy, President of IT Carlow, presented each recipient with their award, congratulated them on their achievements and spoke about the continued development of the Institute saying: 'IT Carlow is extremely proud of its high quality academic and sporting reputation.
