AGHADE PARISH TABLE QUIZ
Aghade and Ardoyne Parish Committee will hold their annual table quiz in Ballykealey House Hotel, Ballon on Saturday night 18 January starting at 8pm. A table of four costs €40 and there are some good prizes on offer. Light refreshments will be served. As this is the parishes chief fundraiser for the year your support would be appreciated.
SLOW TRAD MUSIC SESSIONS
Slow Traditional music sessions will be held in Siopa Glas on Wednesday evenings from 8.30 to 10.30pm. Everyone welcome - just go along with your musical instrument. Please note that this is not a class. Phone: 087-2424934 for all the details.
TURKEY TROT A SUCCESS
Runners, joggers, walkers, cyclists, buggy's and babies, children galore, even dogs, turned up at Morris Park on a beautiful St Stephen's morning to take part in the Ballon GFC Turkey Trot.
Led off by operation transformation's Monica Percy and her family, just under 150 registered participants and children galore all completed the 5K round trip at their own pace and pleasure and enjoyed the refreshments afterwards in the clubhouse. For the record local athlete Seamus English-Hayden was first home in a very respectable 19 minutes 48 seconds and was followed in by John Brennan, Sraugh on 20 minutes 12 seconds.
The club wishes to thank all who helped out with the arrangements and stewarding and most especially Monica Percy and her family for their interest and support and to Karen Lewis, Katrina Fanning, Emma and Mary Byrne for keeping the tea, coffee, minerals and hot chocolate flowing freely afterwards.
A draw for all participants and ticket holders for a 32" TV which was held in Kavanagh's on St. Stephen's night was won by Adam Fitzgerald, Sraugh.
BALLON LADIES HOLD AGM
Ballon Ladies GAA Club held their annual meeting recently in Fr Flood House. This was a well attended meeting with a very positive attitude from all present.
The officers elected were: chairperson, Laura Doyle; vice chairperson, Ciara O'Brien; secretary, Fiona Kennedy; assistant secretary, Pat Doyle; treasurer, Linda Redmond; assistant treasurer, Caroline O' Toole; PRO, Ellie Hegarty; assistant PRO, Ciara O' Brien; Child Protection Officer, Cheryl Keogh; County Board Representative, Fiona Kennedy. Elected to the committee were Ann-Marie Brennan, Katie Brennan, Fiona Ryan, Hayley O' Shea, Ellen Kennedy, Ger O' Shea and Thomas Murphy.
Training will resume in the new year, more details to follow. All new players welcome.
SONG AND STORY
The final session of the Rathoe Song and Story for 2013 was held in Rathoe Hall on Sunday 22nd December with a fantastic crowd of musicians, story tellers, singers and dancers present.
MC Seamus Dowling thanked everybody for their support during the year and wished everyone a very Happy New Year expressing a hope to see everyone in Rathoe again for the January session which will be held on Sunday next 19th January.

SONG AND STORY
The House of Song and Story takes place on Monday 20th January at 8.00pm in St. Brigid's Community Hall. Once again the kettle will be on the boil the ladies committee will look after the guests.

Congratulations to Jim Connolly Clonmore and Noelle King, Ballasalla, Hacketstown, whom were married in St Brigid's Church, Hacketstown recently, Jim and Noelle are wished many years of health and happiness in their married life together.

Many thanks to all who contributed to the Christmas Collection for the Priests of the Parish, also to everyone who helped in anyway to make the Christmas celebrations so special by decorating the churches, singing with the choirs and taken part in the concert, Eucharistic Ministers and Readers, Collectors and Car - park attendants. Hacketstown United Soccer Club inconjuntion with New Oak F.C. Have started a weekly club lotto, this is a new venture for the club and is proving to be very successful fundraiser, tickets can be purchased from team managers, and also from the local shops in the town, tickets €2 each, numbers drawn were 8 - 21 -30 - 32 lucky dip draw of €25 went Pa Holmes, seller Paula Strahan Hacketstown, Jackpot stands at €2,000 at the moment, your continued support is greatly appreciated. Draw is held in New Oak Club House in Carlow every Monday night.

JOHN COOGAN R.I.P.
His many friends in Crettyard and surrounding areas were saddened to learn of the death of Mr John Coogan, Montheen, Crettyard. John became suddenly ill 12 weeks ago and died at Naas Hospital. His remains were removed to the Church of the Sacred Heart Moneenroe and burial took place in adjoining cemetery after 12 o'clock Requiem Mass.
Sympathy is extended to his son, Shane, daughter, Angela, sisters, brothers, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, other relatives and a large circle of friends
Due to the recent amount of house burglaries, a one hour information evening on "Home Security" will take place in Graiguecullen Parish Centre on this Wednesday15th January at 7.30pm. Information will be shared by community liaison officer Garda Ralph Holmes and Margaret Quinn of Muintir na Tíre. Details will also be provided on a text alert system.

NIGHT OF PRAYER
The Medjugorje Night of Prayer in St Clare's Church, Graiguecullen, Rosary, Holy Mass, and Adoration is on Wednesday 29th January. Daniella, guide from Medjugorje and friends will join the night and speak at the Mass. Rosary begins at 7.15pm led by the Poor Clare Sisters followed by Holy Mass and Adoration.
There was no Jackpot winner in the recent draw. The numbers drawn were 4, 8 14 and 24, there was no Jackpot winner. Next Jackpot €10,000, Reserve €10,000. The Annual General Meeting will be held in St John's Hall Hacketstown on Friday, January 24, at 8pm. Nomination Papers have been distributed and all nominations and motions for the AGM must be returned to Secretary, Clive Lambe, by the end of today, Tuesday January 7.
Clonmore Juvenile Club held its Annual General Meeting on Friday evening, January 3. There was a great turnout for the meeting. The first meeting of the new Committee is due to be held in the Clubhouse on Monday, February 3.
