Huge crowds gathered to enjoy a spinechilling tour at Huntington Castle, Clonegal, from the 26th - 31st October. Men and women discovered the dark side of the castle as they listen to spooky tales from their tour guide (Alexander and Harry Durdin Robertson), then suddenly ghosts are running past you or screaming from the bed when you least expect it.

The Castle has many resident ghosts, from the ghostly soldiers, maids and monks, which all these had come to life. You could hear the men and women screaming from the courtyard, which made those waiting for the next tour even more nervous. Having been on the tour myself, I was literally stuck to the floor and asked myself did I actually see that happening?

When you thought it couldn't get any better you were brought out to wilderness, walking under the yew trees suddenly a man with a chainsaw is behind you and your first instincts is to run for your life, knocking down anyone in your path. Having spoken to those who went on the tour, said" it was the best haunted castle they have been at, it will be very hard to beat that next year". Owner Alexander would like to thank all those who came far and near and promises that next will be even better.

The Tidy Village committee would like to announce our success at the Pride of Place which was held last Wednesday the 26th November in the Mount Wolseley Hotel. The committee are happy to say Clonegal won two awards. Environment strategy - best bring bank; also joint second in population category 500-1000.

The committee would like to thank the whole community, volunteers and Fas for all their hard work throughout the year months. Without the community's help and support, this high standard of achievement would not be possible. So once again many thanks to one and all. Kind regards Clonegal Tidy Village committee.
