Hacketstown -- All The News

42 children from Hacketstown National School recently travelled to the Convention Centre in Dublin to participate in the "Rain falling up" concert. The performance of the children's oratorio featured a choir of 500 schoolchildren, an adult choir and the RTE Symphony Orchestra. The narrator was actress Pauline McGlynn of "Father Ted" fame. The children really enjoyed performing with a full orchestra, being directed by conductor Fergus Shiel and not least meeting "Mrs Doyle" afterwards. The participation of the school in this event was made possible by Carlow County Council Arts Office and it certainly proved a memorable evening for the children and many parents who travelled to the event.
