There'll be summer fun for all the family at Duckett's Grove Country Fair on Sunday, May 4 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The day will be jam-packed with activities and entertainment to be enjoyed by young and old in a truly magnificent setting just ten minutes from Carlow town.
The fair will feature dedicated displays of traditional crafts which were part and parcel of life on the estate in former times including basket making, weaving, felting and a blacksmith.
Free horse drawn carriage rides by Carlow and District Trap and Carriage Riders Club are on offer on the front lawn throughout the day as well as a display of horses and hounds by Carlow Farmers Hunt staff. Both are taking place with the aim of re-creating some of the special atmosphere associated with life in Duckett's Grove during its hey days.
Woodlands Falconry will also be present on the day, allowing visitors to get up close and personal with and enjoy a range of majestic birds such as hawks, falcons and owls from around the world.
If you're hoping to bag a bargain, then the large craft market will be right up your street. Showcasing the best of woodturning, pottery, jewellery, hand-knitting and much more, it's guaranteed to appeal to anyone seeking that special gift. A local artisan food market will keep hunger at bay with a range of breaks, cakes, jams, chutneys crepes, ice creams, sweets and chocolates as well as homemade burgers and chips from Coolanowle Organic Farm and Paul Stock Barbeque. For the little ones there will be face painting, a pets corner, nature trails and interactive workshops.
The Country Fair will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and admission is €7 per car.
