Crettyard -- all the news

Kevin Has a Stormer: The Aviva AllIrelqnd schools cross country championships were held in Galway over the weekend. Knockbeg were strongly fancied in the senior boys and came home heart broken missing out on the bronze medals by a mere one point. Scoring 123 points one more than the boys from Cork.

Kevin Brennan had a brilliant race. Starting steadily as usual he made his way through the field. Having progressed to the top 10 by halfway he continued his forward momentum and came right through to finish an incredible 4th place just outside the medals.

Stephen Attride completed his secondary school cross country with a fine run in 24th place while Cormac Kelly 47th and James Delaney 48th completed the scoring. Jamie Malone 69th and Fergal Delaney 84th provided the back up so essential in cross country running. It was great to see Fergal back after his year out due to injury.

O'tooles Turnout: The club was well represented at the St. Laurence O'toole fit4life run with 16 participants in a field of close on 500. Among those taking part were:- Avril Byrne, Maura Fleming, Lisa Gorman, Ann Nicholl, Carol Brennan, Linda Brennan, Patrick Brennan, Mairead Moore, Sadie Wheatley, Breda Mulcahy, Franics Fleming (snr & jnr), Matt Moore, Michelle Egan, Pauline Whelan and Anita Brennan. Well done especially to those that had P.B'S.

Poor Turnout: A disappointing small number showed up for the team indoor competition on Saturday last. Those that featured included:- Dylan Byrne, Aran Murphy, Kelsey Warburton, Eoin Keenan, Bryan Ryan, Gillian Keenan, William Hayden, Keelan Dermody, Ruby Millet, Tom Bugy, Matthew Rossiter, Orla Kelly, Shane Buggy, Matthew Dragoi, Emma Fleming, Colin Dragoi and Amy Brennan. Thanks to everyone that helped out.

Senior Road: The Laois credit union's and the Ben Brennan sponsored senior road championships for women and men will take place on Sunday next the 25th March over the Turra triangle commencing with registration from 11.30 with the ladies off at 12 noon.


Winner of Top Score at Newtown Whist was John Graham, Bilbao. 1st lady Maureen Ferris and Teresa Mulhare. 1st gent E. Coffey. 2nd gent Mick Mooney. 1st half R Brennan and B Murphy. 2nd half Margaret Brennan. 1st quarter Christy Maher 2nd quarter Kit Farrell and Hannah Moore. Raffle winners were Ena Wallace, Paul Kavanagh, Mary Quigley, Elizabeth Coffey and Gerry Kealy. Whist as usual on Saturday next.


Last weeks winners in the Crettyard Footballers Lotto were Michael Barry, Doonane, Aoife Cooney, and Michael Lyons, Doonane. The winning numbers were 12-16-23-30.
