Cara in Fine Form: The 'Woodies' National cross country championships were decided for the first time over a rather soft course in Tattersalls, Co. Meath. Cara Maher was our sole representative in the girls U.12 and she did a marvellous job wearing the club colours with pride.

Setting out at a steady pace she found herself in the top 25 approaching the halfway mark in a field of over 150. Moving smoothly and with plenty of encouragement she passed them one by one to move into the top 10 with 400 metres to go and still driving for the finish she crossed the line in a brilliant 6th place. Added to this she was the 3rd scoring member on the Athletics Leinster team which won the inter provincial crown. Many congratulations Cara on another fine performance.

The STOOK 10 miler: A number of club members took part in the Gowran 10 mile road race held at the Stook recently. Breda Mulcahy had a fine run to finish 31st across the line for 2nd lady in a time of 1-06.28. Teresa Agar returning after her great run in the Dublin marathon was 4th lady in 46th place overall in 1-09.08. Mark Wogan was 94th in 1-16.43, with Paula Guinan 116th in 1-19.35 and Michael Lyons 202nd in 1-28.46 from a field of 298 finishers.
