75 YEARS since it first opened its doors, Colaiste Eoin in Hacketstown, celebrated its history with staff, students and friends, old and new, at a special day long ceremony recently.
A number of honoury guests attended 75th anniversary including one of the first students, Rita Dunning, who was on the first role books when she attended Colaiste Eoin back in 1937 when the school first opened its doors.
Other guests included former Education Minister Mary O'Rourke, who addressed the assembly and launched a commemorative booklet, former principal Larry Kavanagh who is also CEO of Carlow vocational educational committee , former principal Michael Daly and Chairman of County Carlow VEC Denis Foley.
Current principal Pauline Egan led proceedings and the students performed a number of songs and unveiled a mural which they created along with artist Lar Griffen. A special service was conducted by Fr Andy Keating in the afternoon before officially blessing the school.
