OPERATION TRANSFORMATION: Ballon Operation Transformation Club will be following Monica Percy, Forge Meadow on Operation Transformation which will be going out on RTEI Television each Tuesday and Wednesday nights starting on tonight (Tuesday) for seven weeks.

The aim of the Group will be to get fit, follow the programme of weight loss and have fun along the way. Register at Siopa Glas from this Tuesday evening and the first get together of the Group will be on Thursday 10th January at 7.30pm for a Ballon under lights walk. The official launch of Ballon Operation Transformation Group will be on Saturday 12th January 2.30pm at the Siopa Glas followed by a 4K walk. The annual meeting of The Fighting Cocks GFC will be held in the Clubhouse on Saturday night, 12th January at 8pm. All players, members and supporters are requested to attend. The club will hold its annual Dinner Dance in the Seven Oaks Hotel on Friday, 8 February. Tickets, costing €25 each, are now on sale from any committee member or from Finbarr O'Connor on 087 27790389. Thanks is extended to all those who supported the club's recent draw.

The Club held a Santa Fun 5K run/walk on New Year's Day and they would like to thank everyone who participated or made generous donations.


Rathoe Sports Complex offers great facilities and for those seeking to get fit or maintain fitness over the winter months. The Complex houses two squash courts and a badminton court plus changing rooms, showers and a viewing gallery for spectators. Unlike most other sporting facilities there is no membership fee, you just pay as you play. Play tokens may be bought in O'Connor's Shop/P.O.

Bingo in aid of parish funds takes place every Saturday night in Ballon Community Centre at 8.30pm with a prize fund of around €2,000 each night. This includes a jackpot which increases each week if it is not won. Come along, bring a friend and help boost parish funds.
