Fifteen teams took part in the table quiz held by Aghade/Ardoyne Parish Committee in Leinster Hills Golf Club on Friday night, 24th November.
The competition was keen with the lead changing hands throughout. However the early leaders, the quartet of George, Lorna and Robert Collier from Tinryland and Billy Nolan from Ballon, came back to claim victory from a team from the Tullow area consisting of Rev Andrew Orr, Susan Green, Noelle Adams and Trevor Corrigan. Third prize went to the team of Richard Codd, John Binions, Ursula Lawlor and Sarah Myers from the Coolkenno area.
The questions were set and asked by Michael Dawson. The organizing committee extend their thanks to all those who took part or who helped in any way to make the night a success.
The 2012 Edition of the Ballon/Rathoe Chronicle will be launched in Ballykealey Manor Hotel on Wednesday night, 12th December at 8pm. The launch will be performed by Jimmy O'Toole, author of County Carlow's best-selling book 'The Carlow Gentry'. The magazine will be on sale at the launch and will be in all local shops and in the neighbouring towns and villages on Thursday 13th December at a cost of €8. In the mean time keep the night free as an open invitation is extended to the launch in Ballykealey where refreshments will be served.
