CONGRATULATIONS TO everyone involved in Bagenalstown Co- Operation Pride of Place 2012on winning the top national award at the annual Pride of Place Competition held in Thomond Park Stadium, Limerick, on Saturday, November 3.
The Pride of Place Competition has been in existence for the last ten years and is an initiative of the Local Authority All Ireland Steering Forum run by Co- Operation Ireland, a charity involved in promoting peace building activities North and South.
The Competition recognises and celebrates the involvement of the local community in working together to improve and take pride in their area.
It was a great honour when Bagenalstown was chosen earlier this year by Carlow Local Authorities to represent Co. Carlow in the Competition and they supported the town all through the preparations in helping to showcase Bagenalstown at its very best.
The organising committee included Carlow County Council admin. staff, Margaret Moore (Chairperson), Janette O'Brien, supported by Joanne Donohoe and Karen Mullins who led the team of voluntary community workers, representatives from the Town Council, BIG, FAS, Family Resource Centre, BEAM, traders, agencies, clubs, voluntary groups and individuals.
Business people and residents all responded positively to the challenge and did their part in showcasing their premises and areas.
