The village of Clonegal, Kildavin and the wider community was saddened to hear the death of Billy (Bill) Gahan of London and formerly of Clonegal, Co. Wexford and Carnew, Co. Wicklow. Bill passed away suddenly on Thursday 27th December. Funeral arrangements are as follows: Cremation service in Manor Park, London on Wednesday 8th January at 1.30pm. Ashes will be resting at Valley View Clonegal, Co. Wexford, on Friday 10th January. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday 11thJanuary at St. Brigid's Church, Clonegal with burial afterwards in Tomacork Cemetary, Carnew, Co. Wicklow. May he rest in peace.


The House of Song and Story takes place on Monday 20thJanuary at 8.00pm in St. Brigid's Community Hall. Once again the kettle will be on the boil the ladies committee will look after the guests. Top class entertainers will be on the stage and a full house is expected. All are welcome.


The Kildavin/Clonegal GAA lotto was held in Conway's Lounge, Kildavin, on Sunday 29thDecember. Numbers drawn were 2, 14, 19 and 26. There was no winner of the jackpot of €4,400. Winner that matched three was, James Conway, Kildavin, receiving €150. Attendance draw goes to Mary Murphy, Chris Moran and Jimmy Ryan. The next draw will take place in Osborne's Lounge, Clonegal on Sunday 11th January 2014, with a Jackpot of €4,600.

A very enjoyable Awards Night was held on Saturday December 21, in conjunction with the Juvenile Club's Christmas Draw in Cullen's The Hill. As always, club President Eddie Forde did a great job as Master of Ceremonies introducing the various awards winners with his carefully researched citations.

The winners were: Hall of Fame: Pat Bowes; Senior Clubman of the Year: Des Byrne, Juvenile Clubman: Ger Doyle; Players of the Year: Intermediate: Ronan Doyle; Junior: JP Doyle; Young Player: Shane McGrath; Minor: Jordan Kane. Lily Purser received a bouquet of flowers from club Treasurer, Juliana Garahy, in recognition of her outstanding work in looking after the jerseys during 2013 and for over 20 years.

Congratulations to all the Award Winners especially the Hall of Fame winner was award was presented by James Doyle, Chairman of Clonmore GFC, Pat an outstanding player in the 1960s & 70s who represented the county at Minor and U-21 level and was one of the stars of the Clonmore teams that reached the 1963 and 65 County Senior finals. The award was presented The Club would like to congratulate Darragh Kelly, Coláiste Eoin, Hacketstown, on winning the Carlow GAA Cumann na Iar-bunscoileanna Award for 2013 for his outstanding work with the school's GAA teams.
