Askea ICA will meet on Wednesday 30th April at 7.30pm in Askea Parish Centre. Any women who are interested are very welcome to drop in and meet us and find out what we do during the year.

FASHION SHOW

Rathoe Community Childcare are holding a Fashion Show on Friday 2nd May at 7.30pm in a Marquee at the Tullow Rugby Club with guest model Sean O'Brien. . Emily Kirwan's School of Dance will perform during the interval. FIRST JUVENILE TITLE

Burrin Celtic's under-12 side made their own little bit of history on Wednesday evening 23 April when they became the first team from the club to win a Carlow League. Their defeat of Slaney in Tullow clinched the title with a game still remaining.

4 MILE FUN RUN/ WALK

Slaney Valley Community Games are holding a 4 Mile Fun Run/ Walk Fundraiser on Bank-holiday Monday t5th May at 5pm in Ardattin. This will be a fun event for all the family. Run, walk, push a buggy. Fun warm-up before the event with John Kenny, Boot camp. Entry fee Adults €10, Kids €5, Family €20. Registration from 4pm. Refreshments will be served afterwards in Ardattin Hall.

GAA LOTTO

The Kildavin/Clonegal GAA lotto was held in Conway's Lounge, Kildavin, on Sunday 20th April. Numbers drawn were 1, 8, 23 and 25. There was no winner of the jackpot of €6,200. Winners that matched three were Angela Kavanagh, Lackabeg and Wayne Austin, Kildavin, all receiving €75 each. Sellers Prize goes to Sinead Gray. The next draw will take place in Dunne's Lounge, Clonegal, on Sunday 4th May 2014, with a Jackpot of €6,200.

TIDY TOWN ASSOCIATION

Clonegal Tidy Town Association will hold their next meeting on Wednesday 30th April at 8pm in St. Brigid's Hall, Clonegal. New members are very welcome.

DEEPEST SYMPATHY

The village was saddened to hear the sudden death of Andrew (Andy) Kirwan, Kilcarry, Clonegal, on Wednesday 23rd April at Riverdale Nursing Home, Ballon. Sincere sympathy is extended to his brothers, sisters, nephews, relatives and friends. Reposed at Byrne's Funeral Home, Tullow, on Thursday 24th April, with removal to St. Brigid's Church, Clonegal. Funeral Mass was held on Friday, burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. May Andy rest in peace.

ALZHEIMER'S TEA DAY

A tea day and bring and buy sale in aid of Alzheimer's takes place in Ballyconnell Hall on Saturday 3rd May from 3p.m. to 9p.m. A large selection of books, cakes, plants, bric-a-brac, and other items will also be on sale. A raffle will also be held. proceeds from the event will go tothe Carlow Alzheimier's Society. Good support would be appreciated.

MAY SUNDAY 2014

Annual May Sunday Field Day will be held on Sunday 4th May in Killeshin Hall and grounds at 2pm The Holy Cross Sodality invites its members and Parishioners to be part of their May Sunday celebrations this year. It's the 130 anniversary of the Sodality, the 70 anniversary of the revival of the procession and it's also the 20 anniversary of ladies wearing Sash's for the first time.

The Procession leaves from St Clare's at 10.30am sharp led by the Pipe Band for the 50 year in a row. Bishop Denis and Fr John will walk with us so why not be part of this extra special occasion. Householders along the route are asked to fly a flag

50 ANNIVERSARY

SOLEMN NOVENA

The Ninth Solemn Novena begins on Monday 05 May and will run for nine consecutive nights. We invite people during Lent to place their petitions in the petition boxes in St Clare's. RIAN MEMORIAL WALK

The Rian Hickey Memorial Walk will take place on the May 4, The walk will start at Hacketstown Community Centre at 2pm. Entry fee is €5, sponsorship cards in local outlets. SYMPATHY

The club would like to extend it sympathy to the Ryan and Connolly families following the death of Brendan's sister Margaret McAdams in Co Tipperary last week. May she rest in peace.

Trish's Tractor Run 2014. The Bowes & Kelly family's would like to thank all who supported us in our 4th annual run on Sunday 13th April 2014. We had a wonderful turn out from participants to those who lent a hand with refreshments etc. It was wonderful to see the amount of support from people who knew and loved Trish. Thanks to all your great efforts we managed to raise over 2, 200 euro on the day. Looking forward to next year's run. Hope to see you all there!
