Next meeting will be December monthly meeting on Wednesday 10th December in Askea Parish Centre at 7.30pm. After the meeting we will have our Christmas party before we break for Christmas and the New Year.

Come along to Askea Parish Community Centre on Thursday 6th December at 9.30amfor coffee and cake and help raise vital funds for Crumlin Children's Hospital.


You will get Christmas cards and Candles in Askea Parish Community Centre in aid of Éist, Cancer Support Centre.


CRISP is exhibiting all the photographs taken by the participants from the Digital Photography for Beginners Course in Carlow Library from Tuesday 4th December until Saturday 8th December. Askea Country Markets are open every Friday morning from 10am to12noon in Askea Parish Centre. Lovely homemade cakes, apple and rhubarb tarts, bread,scones . Orders taken for Christmas fare. ber at 5pm to the company of carols and music. Assemble will be outside the church at 5pm and bring a torch and a friend or two.

Following the walk the group will assembled at the Millennium Monument for the switching on of the Christmas lights there. Hot chocolate drinks and light refreshments will be served at the Siopa Glas after the switch on. Bí linn agus fáilte.


A Christmas Crafts Fair will be held in Ballon Old National School on Thursday and Friday, 13/14th December from 11am to 5pm each day. A great selection of gifts will be available so why not come along and browse and buy local this year. Teas and coffees will be available throughout both days. Santa will arrive in Ballon on Friday 15th December. He will arrive at Ballykealey Gates at 10am and will cycle into the village. He would love if some folk would meet him there and escort him into the village. Breakfast with Santa and fun and crafts with the Elves will be held at Siopa Glas on 15th, 16th, 21st ,22nd and 23rd December. Sessions at 10.30am, 11.45am and 2pm and the cost is just €5. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Places are filling fast and all breakfasts with Santa have to be booked in advance. Phone Breda on 087 7820211 or Margaret on 087 1507592 to book. The breakfasts are generously sponsored by Michael McAssey, Butchers and Foodmarket.


Burrin Celtic juveniles had more good results last weekend with the under11side drawing 1-1 with Slaney Rovers through a Jamie Cooper goal while the under-13 side defeated the same opposition 3-1 with goals from William Nolan (2) and Keelan O'Byrne.


Bingo in aid of parish funds takes place every Saturday night in Ballon Community Centre at 8.30pm with a prize fund of around €2,000 each night.. There is also a jackpot which increases each week if not won. From now until close to Christmas there will be additional prizes of turkey and ham vouchers and hampers. Come along, bring a friend and help boost parish funds.


Rathoe Defibrillator Group wish to thank John Hennessy and family, Kylemore, for their recent donation. This cash injection will go towards further training for people in the locality. to advise that the date for its annual general meeting has changed to Wednesday 12th December 2012, in the national school at 8p.m. sharp. Apologies for any inconvenience caused. The meeting is open to parents of all current pupils.


The Care of the Aged Committee is holding their annual Christmas dinner for the senior Citizens on Sunday 9th December at 1.30 p.m. in Hacketstown Community Centre. Music by Martin & Ned (Rio).
