Rugby club gets €500 cash injection from EBS fund

CARLOW RUGBY CLUB has received €500 from the EBS Community Fund and is shortlisted to represent Carlow to be in with a chance of winning €10,000.

Recognising the important contribution they make to the local community, Carlow Rugby Club was selected by judges to represent Carlow in the National Community Fund Award competition.

The overall winner of the EBS Community Fund will be selected by the general public through an online vote at

Since being founded in 1873 Carlow Rugby Club have established an excellent rugby ethos which they go to great extremes to promote. It is the clubs priority to promote all of the attributes important to rugby.

They take pride in developing the game from under 8 in the mini's, right through their extensive youth system, up to adult squads. As a club they want to be more than just a successful rugby club, it is their aim is to promote community spirit.

Speaking recently, Aidan Power, Head of Marketing and Communications, EBS said, ' The EBS Community Fund was launched late last year with the people of Ireland encouraged to bring the fund ' home'. EBS asked people to nominate who their favourite community group, club or cause was and in doing so could bring the overall prize fund of €10,000 home to their community.

We are delighted with the response that the fund received.'

The group with the most votes will be awarded the overall National EBS Community Fund prize of €10,000.
