TWO Carlow Childcare facilities are set to benefit from new Government funding being made available. Minister for Children and Youth Affairs James Reilly has announced that a total of €51,364 is to be awarded to county Carlow childcare facilities through the 2014 Early Years Capital Programme.

The money will go directly towards community and non-profit childcare services which applied for funding under the new scheme. The facilities will use the money to carry out vital maintenance and repair works, as well as upgrading current facilities.

Ballon/Rathoe Community Childcare will receive €36,164 under the programme, while Tots To Teens Childcare in Tullow are set to receive €15,200.

Carlow TD Pat Deering said: 'This money will prove hugely beneficial to local families whose children use these facilities. The grants awarded will be used for essential repairs, refurbishment and improving energy ratings. Priority was given to areas of economic disadvantage; places most in need of assistance. This is very good news for parents and childcare providers in Carlow.' Nationally, €2.5million in capital funding has been allocated to 163 childcare providers nationwide.
