They have just electrified the Trailer Park stage at the Electric Picnic, completed a tour of the prisons of Ireland and now a Johnny Cash tribute act from County Cavan is giving a Carlow audience the opportunity to relive the wondrous talent of the legendary Man In Black.
And the good news for readers of the Carlow People is that we have a pair of tickets to the big event to give away!
'Get Rhythm: A Tribute to Johnny Cash' is performed by a group of eight musicians who will recreate the prison concerts undertaken by Johnny Cash and his band in the 1960s on the George Bernard Shaw Theatre stage on Saturday night, September 7 at 8pm.
Replicating the classic Cash, Tennessee Three, Carter Family and Carl Perkins line-up, singer Paul McCann will be bringing the role of Johnny Cash back to life, and June Carter's vocal duties will be performed by Louise O'Reilly.
Paul is a Johnny Cash enthusiast and is very excited at the prospect of taking this show on the Carlow road. 'Johnny Cash's music has always been a huge inspiration to me,' he says, 'as I grew up listening to his music at home. Performing this show around Ireland is the most exciting experience of my life.'
The musicians, who have been performing together in various line-ups for fifteen years, have been gigging the show in prisons for four months and are dedicated to staying true to the spirit of the performances which they are recreating. The audience can expect to hear such classics as Jackson, Get Rhythm and Daddy Sang Bass among many more. It really is a show not to be missed!
