Search for young musicians

Published 26/02/2013 | 05:24

CARLOW Regional Youth Services is searching for young musicians from all over the county to take part in the Irish Youth Music Awards 2013.

Last year over ten acts participated in the Carlow region heats, which were won by local band Atholysis.

The lads went on to represent Carlow at the national final in Liberty Hall and performed brilliantly on the day.

The IYMA's is an all inclusive music based project for 12 to 19 year olds, held across Ireland, including Northern Ireland, and greater Dublin area. Engaging with over 15,000 young people at local level, the IYMA's core aim is to give young musicians and those interested in working in the music business, the opportunity to develop their creative and collaborative skills and access the knowledge and advice of some of Ireland's most respected music industry professionals.

The competition is now starting up all over again and the Carlow Regional Youth Service is looking for any interested young people to get in touch with us to take part in the competition.

It is open to all styles of music so if you're a pop singer, a rapper or a full on rock n' roll combo this is your opportunity to grab the limelight.

The end goal of the participating regions is, through a unique combination of Live Performance, and back-room teamwork, to bring home The Irish Youth Music Award 2013. Along with the accolade of becoming the holders of the Irish Youth Music Awards 2013,

all of the team members from the successful region will then record a fully professional album of their own material, produced and mixed by some of Ireland's most experienced producers and engineers.

You must be from County Carlow, aged between 13 and 19 and have at least one original composition.

Last year the IYMAs boasted participants from over 36 regions throughout the country, with as many as 1,500 young musicians and writers directly taking part.

Applications close on Wednesday, March 13. Forms are available at the Vault youth centre, Burrin St. See Facebook Contact Paul Amond or Jimmy Dooley at 059 9133714 or 085 7897279 for further details.
