COMEDY singer extraordinaire Richie Kavanagh is calling on the people of Carlow to get out and shake a bucket for Barnardos.

Buckets for Barnardos is a one-day nationwide collection taking place this Friday and the charity are currently calling on eight volunteers in Carlow and Tullow to give just two hours of their time to shake a bucket for an extremely worthy cause.

Richie Kavanagh has already stepped up to the challenge and will lead the collection in Carlow.

On average, each volunteer will collect about €50 in their bucket in an hour and the more people that are out shaking buckets, the more cash Barnardos will raise.

Barnardos has 40 project centres around the country, including one in Carlow, and for many of the 6,300 children they work with, poverty, disadvantage and hopelessness have become part of everyday life.

Buckets for Barnardos is about raising vital funds to help Barnardos continue its work with vulnerable children and families.

To volunteer for just two hours, please call Suzanne or Grainne on 01 4530355 or visit www.barnardos.ie

Those who are unable to volunteer are asked to donate whatever they can afford on Friday 25 October to the volunteers wearing Barnardos high viz bibs and shaking buckets.

Donations can also be made on www.barnardos.ie or text BUCKET to 50300 to donate €4 - 100% of all donations come to Barnardos.
