WITH the 2013 Rose of Tralee Festival fast approaching, Roses from all over the world are making their last minute preparations to head to Co Kerry. The people of Carlow will be taking a special interest in London Rose, Grace Kenny, this year as she has proud roots in the county.
Grace qualified for the Rose of Tralee contest through her father Martin, who was born in the Dublin Road area of Tullow and emigrated to London in the 1960s with his parents and seven siblings. Martin has since passed away, but Grace will be keen to do her father and her Carlow roots proud as she gets set to take part in the prestigious competition. Grace managed to visit Carlow town and Tullow this week, stopping off for a visit to the Carlow Museum. She met with locals in both towns, who wished her all the best in the upcoming competition in Tralee.
