More than 62 years of marriage secured a win for Peggy and John Barcoe from the Killeshin Road who entered the Tesco competition to find Carlow's longest married couple.

The happy couple, who have been married for 62 years and eight months, were presented a fantastic Valentine's Day hamper including flowers, champagne and chocolates to the happy couple.

The Endless Love competition was open to all married couples in Carlow, with Tesco searching for the couple who have been married for the longest time.

'We were both shocked and absolutely delighted to win the Endless Love competition in our local Tesco in Carlow. This Valentine's will be very special and we can't wait to enjoy ourselves with this fantastic gift,' said Peggy and John.

The store also celebrated the most romantic day of the year by presenting three married couples with champagne. The other lucky pairs were Christy and Anne Lawlor and John and Bridget Ryan who have both been married for over 30 years. 'Our Endless Love competition was a really fun way for us to celebrate Valentine's Day with our customers in Carlow and we were also delighted to celebrate with three of our couples in store. Romance is well and truly alive in Carlow this Valentine's Day,' said Tesco Carlow Store Manager, Alan Coughlan.
