Horse burgers, boxers, Elvis... and Richie!
HORSE burgers, Olympic boxers and Elvis himself feature on the new album by Carlow funnyman Richie Kavanagh.
The singer/songwriter from Garyhill is set to release a new album next month on which he sings about everything thing from horsemeat burgers to Elvis's Carlow connections and Olympic medalist John Joe Nevin.
The new album features 'Horsing Around' (the burger song) and a song about silver Olympic medalist John Joe Nevin, who contacted Richie during the Olympics. The Mullingar man is a big fan of Richie and trains to his music. He asked him to put pen to paper and write a song about him so Richie has come up with 'John Joe Yer A Good One'.
Despite been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, Richie is continuing to write and record his own songs.
He has also recorded a song about how Elvis became a Carlow man.
William Presley was forced to flee his home in Hacketstown in Co.Carlow in 1780. Soon After William and his brother Andrew left Ireland for New Orleans and a year later they moved to Tennessee.
William died in 1802 and his great granddaughter Rosella had a son called Jessie Presley.
In 1913 Jessie Married Minnie Mae and they had a son called Vernon in 1916.
'Then Vernon married Gladys Smith in 1933 and they were Elvis's Mammy and Daddy,' said Richie who called the song, 'That's the Truth'.
He also intends to continue performing throughout Ireland and the UK and 'Thats the Truth'. All songs are written and produced by Richie Kavanagh.
