A great evening of entertainment took place at the Seven Oaks Hotel last week in aid of the late great Jim Nolan. Jim, a famed storyteller and well known character all over Carlow and beyond, passed away last year and friends and family decided it would be a great idea to honour his memory and raise some money for charity with a tribute night.

There were performances from the Kilmyshall Set Dancers, Mary Butler, Liam Murphy, Leslie Dunne, Joe Whelan, Joe Hickey, Greta Dowling, Billy Redmond, Lisa Butler, Eric Butler, Ciaran Sommers and Nicky Kealey. Members of the Nolan family also played a great role in assisting the night.

'It was a wonderful night,' said John Candy, who produced the evening along with Ollie Hennessey and Olivia Smith. 'We got a great crowd in for it and by the end of the night, there was standing room only. A lot of work went in to the night over the past few weeks, and thankfully it was a great success. We'd also like to issue a big thank you to Michael Murphy and all his staff at the Seven Oaks for all their help in making the night such a success.'

The night also served as a fundraiser for the Alzheimer's Association and Conquer Cancer and all proceeds will be split between the two charities.
