CARLOW has been embracing all things Gaeilge over the last few weeks and there is great excitement as local drama group, Aisteoiri an Lochrainn have qualified to partcipate in the National Irish Drama Festival which is taking place in the Donegal Gaeltacht.
Over the May Bank Holiday weekend the group will perform the two act play 'Bidín' which was written by An tathair Pádraig Standún. Conchobhar Ó Laoghaire, Cathaoirleach of Aisteoirí an Lóchrainn said ' With such a great interest in the Irish language in Carlow at present more and more people who are fluent in the language are available to get involved in areas such as drama.' 'Bidín' is one of just seven productions to have qualified for the National Festival and will share the programme with productions from mostly Irish speaking Gaeltacht regions. ' 'A play such as Bidín is ideal for our group and we had no difficulty in filling the various roles,' he added. Go n-éirí leo!'
