First Carlow College of Music Festival

The inaugural music festival with Carlow College of Music will take place this Saturday, February 16, in St Leo's Assembly Hall on the Old Dublin Road.

The festival, runs from 11 a. m to 6 p. m, will feature many talented young musicians on the piano, flute, saxophone, French Horn, Trombone, trumpet, guitar, violin, cello, voice, choir and ensembles.

The student who has contributed significantly to the musical life of the College will be presented with the 'Student of the Year' award.

A number of local businesses, including the Carlow People, have sponsored cups for the event.

'The main purpose of this Music Festival is to improve performance skills, encourage high standards, develop repetoire and to give a sense of achievement thus improving self confidence,' said organiser of the event Majella Swan.
