KILDAVIN/CLONEGAL Drama group is busy putting the finishing touches to their next production that will take to the stage next week.

Get ready to laugh as the they will present their production of 'The Wake' by M. J. Ginnelly on Friday and Sunday, February 22 and 24 in the Spellman Hall, Kildavin.

'The gags come thick and fast in this play and a great night's entertainment is assured,' said secretary of the club Carmel Gibson.

'This will be the group's fourteenth production after a break last year.'

The plot centres on the wake of Tom Healy, a man who was known to be 'fond of a drop'. Tom's controversial last request threatens to humiliate his family and make them the laughing stock of the village where they live.

'Family, friends and neighbours consist of an array of colourful characters who add to the general chaos,' she added.

The usual cast members will again partake this year, namely, John Hickey, Dan Murphy, Margaret Farrell, Helena Kirwan, Maureen Coleman, Ann Kirwan, Enda Smyth, Joe Mernagh, Johnny Doyle and Stephen O'Leary. Alas this year we will not have our beloved Jim Byrne, whose untimely passing has left us without a great character actor and friend.

'So don't miss this side-splitting performance, make a note in your diary to come and see this hilarious comedy, and do not be late as the show starts at 8 p. m. on the button.'
