Design students from Carlow showcased their work and ideas the Limerick School of Art & Design (LSAD) Graduate Show 'Odyssey' when it opened at the college's Carlow Street campus.

Four years of creative endeavour came together for a number of Carlow students as they were among those who showcased 153 pieces of work as the exhibition.

The Graduate Show was opened by Artistic Director for Limerick City of Culture 2014 Karl Wallace who praised LSAD, which is rated among the top 50 art and design colleges in the world.

'The Limerick School of Art & Design has probably done as much for culture and the arts in Limerick and the wider region as rugby has for sport in the city,' he said.

'Its reputation is not just national but international. This region really is on the international map from a cultural perspective and LSAD has done much to help that.'

The show comprised of exhibits such as painting, sculpture and combined media, printmaking and contemporary practice, fashion, visual communications and ceramics.
