Deirdre's 'Idir' in Bloom festival

Carlow garden designer Deirdre Pender is getting set to reveal her wonderful garden project in The Phoenix Park for this year's Bloom festival over the June bank holiday weekend.
The festival will run from Thursday, May 29 until Monday, June 2 and in that time, Deirdre is looking forward to showing off her wonderful project.
Entitled 'Idir', which is the Irish word for 'between', Deirdre's design is a contemporary re-working of the timeless idea of those special places in the world where the spiritual realm can break through to illuminate our everyday existence. The intangible 'otherworld' is represented by a variety of concrete discs, appearing to lightly rest above the tangible world, and also by a diffused scented mist permeating the garden in an ethereal manner.
The Bloom festival has become a highlight of the social calendar for green fingered enthusiasts in recent years and it has become Ireland's largest garden and food festival. Deirdre's design will be seen by an estimated 110,000 people from all over the country over the course of the weekend and organisers are hoping that the weather will reflect the happy festival atmosphere.
Deirdre's is one of 30 show gardens that will be on display from some of the country's finest landscape gardeners and designers.
Tickets for the event are available from www.bloominthepark.com.
