There was plenty of dancing and entertainment in Leighlinbridge when the local active retirement group held their annual lunch and dance.

Almost 150 members of the south east region of Active Retirement Ireland attended the Leighlinbridge and District ARA day out in the Lord Bagenal Hotel.

Amongst those attending were the president of Active Retirement Ireland, Mai Quaid; Board member Kevin Molloy; Susan O'Connor, chairperson of The South East Region along with Kathleen Kumnig, Regional Development Officer and Regional PRO Anita Doyle.

Members travelled to the event from Leighlinbridge, Borris, Bennekerry, Castlecomer Co Kilkenny, Ballingarry Co Tipperary, New Ross Co Wexford and Dungarvan Co Waterford.

'There was an excellent lunch served at 1 pm which was enjoyed by all, a very varied menu so members had a choice.

'There was a door prize and some excellent prizes raffled during the afternoon,' said spokeswoman Anita Doyle.

The music was by Celtic Sound and a great variety of dancing including ballroom, old time, line dancing and Irish dancing and a great time was had by all.

'Many thanks to the organising committee for such an enjoyable afternoon and the committee includes chairperson Betty Murphy, Vice Chair Jim Campbell and Secretary Maura Devine,' she added.
