Country School Remembers

Published 31/12/2013 | 05:24

Country School Remembers – Ballymartin School 1822-1969. Due to popular demand the 2nd edition of 'A Country School Remembers' is now available in Kiernan's of Borris, the Little Shop, Bagenalstown, O'Shea's of Borris and Mick Kinsella at 0872037394. This 88-page book charts the long and colourful history of Ballymartin NS from the schools establishment in 1822 to until the doors finally closed in February 1969.

The memories section, which features input from pupils and teachers on their experiences, gives a vivid insight into a way of life that seems light years ago and is now almost forgotten.

All in all this is a most interesting read, from those from the locality and beyond. Proceeds from the book will go to the Delta Centre, Carlow.
