The excitement was palpable as the Tullow Show had its official launch recently and the countdown is now on until what has become one of the agricultural events of the year takes place on Sunday, August 17.
Doing the honours at the show's official launch was broadcaster, best-selling author and historian Turtle Bunbury who spoke of how much he was looking forward to the big day. Organisers are anticipating a massive crowd once again this year as the show gets even bigger and better with more to see and do.
A full schedule of classes is now available from www.tullowshow.com or on Facebook and entries are closing this Friday, August 1 so people are being urged to enter now.
Once again, the Tullow show has committed to supporting local business and will allocate a free trade stand to any local businesses that have started trading in the last twelve months in order to give them a helping hand and introduce them to the people of Tullow and much further afield.
Among the highlights of this year's festival discussed at the launch were the All-Ireland Tug of War and Ladies Tug of War competitions, miniature novelty horse jumping, arts and crafts, a display of vintage machinery, tractor pulling, live music and much much more.
If all that has worked up an appetite, then the quality food pavilion looks set to be the place to be with the finest of local produce available and cookery demonstrations every hour from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Also people are being encouraged to look their best at the show and there will be a prize for most appropriately dressed lady. There will also be a fashion show where stylist Elaine Scully will be giving advice and fashion tips throughout the day.
As well as this, there will be all the usual attractions on what looks set to be a great family day out.
