Calling all film buffs
FILM buffs in Carlow are already looking towards September this week with the exciting announcement of the Taylorfest, a festival celebrating the life and work of Carlow born William Desmond Taylor, Hollywood actor and director of the Silent Era.
Taylor was born just outside Carlow Town on April 26 1872, the second of four children.
He appeared in 27 movies, directed over 60, and, at the time of his death, was the Head of Production at Paramount Studios.
To celebrate Taylor's life and work, a selection of his films will be screened, a series of talks and various other events will take place at the George Bernard Shaw Theatre, September 21 - 23.
