Baltinglass Golf Club
Baltinglass hosted their club match play finals day on Saturday last. First to tee off were the combination of Brian Slattery and Brian Foley against Mick and Stephen Murphy in the Scotch Foursomes, this turned out to be a mighty tussle with the two Brian's winning on the 18th green.
The Summer Four ball was between Brian Brennan and Tom Flynn against Raymond Danne and Paudge Doody. Raymond and Paudge were the victors also winning on the 18th. The Mitchell Cup club singles match play will take place shortly between Brian Slattery and Jason Bowes.
The Sat-Sun Challenge Cup final was also on Saturday with the Suns proving the stronger team. Well done to all concerned and thanks to everyone for supporting all the competitions.
Dave Prendergast shot the round of the weekend with a score of 40 pts, pipping Austin Kealy on a count back who also on 40 pts. Louie Fagan came third with 38pts.

The Bridge House Hotel Golf Society
Last week's competition, held at Arklow Golf Club, was the annual challenge tournament with the FUGS Golf Society from Aberystwyth in Wales. The Challenge Cup results saw both teams score 438 points which sees the Welsh side retain the trophy. The Bridge House Hotel Golf Society's own competition was held on the day.
The 1st nett winner was Patrick Hoey with 33pts (back 9). Class 1: Gerry Kavanagh 32pts. Class 2: Jimmy Russell 33pts. Nearest the pin: Will Williams 37ins. Longest Drive: Iwan Evans. Front 9: Shaun Carey 20pts. Back 9: Jim Hoey 16pts. Best Welsh player: Trevor Stables. Both teams returned to the Bridge Hotel for a meal with music on the night. A great day and night was had by all.
Next week's competition takes place at Ballinacarrig Golf Club with tee-off at 11am.

Last Wednesday the Ladies had the last of their 18 hole sponsored competitions. It was very kindly sponsored by Cooney Parle and the results are - 1st: Fedelma Sheehy (18) 36 pts; 2nd: Mary Lalor (26) 35 pts; 3rd: Trish Shannon (17) 33 pts.
The Ladies Christmas Leagues are back! The Sunday League started last Sunday and will continue until 2nd December. The Weekly League starts today, Wednesday, 10th October and will continue until the 4th December. Please check the notice board for more details on these leagues. The 9-hole Mixed is starting again this Saturday at 2pm. Brian Murphy and John Doyle have done a great job organising competitions for the Junior boys and girls on Saturdays throughout the month of September.
They hope to continue for the month of October as well, with the competitions now being held on a Sunday afternoon at approx 3.30pm each week.
