THE COUNTY U-21 selectors in conjunction with Harry Murphy held a successful trial day in Rathnew on Bank Holiday Monday October 29.
For the west/south selection, Blessington duo Eoin Keogh and Kevin Hanlon and Ciaran Tyrrell of Hollywood joined the U-21 players James Cushe, Paddy O'Rourke, Shane Hogan (Tinahely), Darragh Figgis, Jimmy Kelly (Dunlavin), Mark O'Brien (Annacurra), Alan Daly Donard), P.J. O'Keeffe (Hollywood), Dan Nolan (Coolboy) and Eoin Howlin, Eoin Devlin and Stephen Bohan (Blessington).
For the east, Senior players William Hender Phillips (Ashford), Glen Byrne (St Mary's Saggart), Alan Merriman (Newcastle), Stuart Murphy and Eddie Doyle (Rathnew) joined U-21 players Theo Smith and Sean Duffy (St Pat's), Stephen Olohan (Laragh), Aaran Nugent (Ashford) and Graham Merrigan, John Manley, Jamie Snell, Ross O'Brien, Paul Ellis, Philip Murphy and Ronan Doyle (all Rathnew).
For the north side Senior players Peter Byrne and Brendan Kennedy (An Tochar) and Shane Mooney (Newtown) joined Philip O'Connor (Newcastle), Brendan Swords and Paddy Crowley (An Tochar), Gavin Burke (Kilmac), Aaran Murphy and John Henderson (Bray), Karl Manahan (Eire Og) and Eoin Kenny and Matthew Gilbert (Kilcoole).
The west/south selection first defeated the east side 0-11 to 14 where Kevin Hanlon and Alan Daly each got 0-3, Paddy O'Rourke 0-2, and P.J. O'Keeffe, James Cushe and Eoin Keogh 01 each while Paul Ellis (goal) and Theo Smith and Sean Byrne 02 each.
The west/south then beat the north 0-9 to 1-3 where Alan Daly got 0-3 and 0-1 each for Shane Hogan, Eoin Keogh, Ciaran Tyrrell, Paddy O'Rourke, P.J. O'Keeffe and Eoin Devlin. For the North Brendan Swords scored 1-2 and Matthew Gilbert 1 point.
