The Wicklow handball league finals were held in Coolboy last Thursday and Friday night with all eight divisions down for decision.

A packed alley in Coolboy witnessed seven out of eight cracking games being decided by tie break and with Jerome Willoughby just back from his All-Ireland singles junior final in Ballyporeen in Tipperary where he was just pipped by Cork's Tadgh Carroll, 21-15 in both games.

The finals brought a couple of surprise results to the fore with Patricia Doyle getting the better of Killian Gregan in the Division 4 final.

Division one was claimed by Dan Fenlon who beat Gerome Willoughby after a tie beak.

Dan was a four point winner of the first game but Gerome turned that on its head in the second and took an eight point win. The final game was Dan's as he took it 11-8 in a close final.

Other winners on the night saw Michael Lennon defeat Dan Curry in another tie break match that couldn't have been closer finishing 11-10.

In Division 3, Paddy Doyle of Coolboy beat Eamonn Rice from Arklow, also in a tie break, 21-12, 13-21, 11-10.

There were two late nights in Coolboy Handball Alley with midnight and later finishes on Thursday and Friday and it was no wonder, with even further matches finishing in tie breaks.

In Division 4, Patrica Doyle beat Killian Gregan on a score of 21-13, 18-21, 11-5.

Division 5 saw Glen O'Kelly take the scalp of Matt Patterson 21-10, 15-21, 11-9, Division 6 meant Dave Curry would defeat Aaron Patterson 14-21, 21-19, 11-5, and in Division 7, the only final which didn't go all the way Joe Dempsey beat Tony Holly 21-8, 21-15.

And in Division 8, Sean Maher claimed victory over Shay Clinton 21-7, 7-21, 11-10.
