Katie Taylor's global dominance has not gone unnoticed this week and Twitter was once again abuzz with people heaping praise on the Bray boxing phenomenon.

The Olympic champion kick-started things when she tweeted about her joy after clinching an unprecedented sixth European Championship in a row.

Katie Taylor: "Thanks everyone for all your support and prayers. 6 X European Champion!! To God be the glory....always!!!"

Her fellow Olympian Adam Nolan knows her better than most but even his is astounded by just how good this girl is.

Adam Nolan: "Congrats to my clubmate @ KatieTaylor on winning yet another gold medal. She just keeps getting better & better! #MillionDollarBrayby "

She also drew praise from a star of the football world. Pierce Sweeney of Reading and Republic of Ireland U-21 fame was overjoyed for his hometown girl.

Pierce Sweeney: "@ KatieTaylor absolutely delighted 6 years in a row European champion! Deserve it 100%!!!! # champ"

It wasn't such a successful week for Sweeney's former employers Bray Wanderers. They fell at the first hurdle in FAI Cup having gone down by a goal to nil against Wexford Youths. A damning statistic after the match summed up the current state of affairs for the Seagulls.

Dodge: "Since Bray Wanderers beat the league leaders Dundalk they've failed to score in 7 (seven) consecutive league and cup games #MathewsBall"

Although 'Dodge' omitted the 1-0 victory over Limerick, one goal in seven games is a tad worrying for Wanderers.

If they need goals, they should call on Davy O'Sullivan. The Longford Town ace continued his hot streak, scoring the opener as Longford Town advanced to the third round at Athlone Town's expense.

Davy O'Sullivan: "Up outta that! What a win, great performance & great atmosphere tonight! Onto the next round we go #elclassico #hondatown #2-0 "

While Bray's cup hopes are over, Wicklow learned of their next step in the championship on Monday and the prospect of playing Offaly was met warmly by Wicklow fans.

Dave Barrett: "Happy with draw but always beware in GAA of the team that's 'not going well'..."

And also in the GAA world, Wicklow Ladies gem Lucy Mulhall was recognised this week as one of the finest players in Division 4 by opposition managers.

Wicklow GAA: "Wicklow star @ LucyMulhall named on the TESCO Homegrown Team of the League for Division 4 ... ".
