Arklow ladies qualify for Leinster decider

Published 07/05/2014 | 05:22

AGB Ladies had their second win in the Leinster Senior League when they defeated Tinahely by the narrowest of margins at Ballymoney on Wednesday April 30.

The Arklow ladies had to work hard and dig deep to get over the line in this eagerly fought contest.

AGB had a dream start with a goal from Áine O'Reilly and a point from Sinead Arthur in the opening minute.

Tinahely then got into the game and scored five points without reply from AGB and took a narrow lead.

Áine O'Reilly equalised with a point in the 15th minute of play and Steph Martin added another in the 23rd minute of what was an excellent game.

Tinahely tacked on another five points to end the half leading by 0-10 to 1-3.

In the second half Tinahely scored 1-4 but the Arklow side fired home a further 3-4 for the half and battled it out to win by a point on a score line of 4-7 to 1-15.

This is the second year the ladies will contest the Senior final and this will be played on May 7 against Sarsfields (Laois) at 7.30pm. (Venue to be confirmed).

All support would be greatly appreciated for this Arklow side when they go in search of Leinster crown.
