The German-Irish Association of Wurzburg completed a successful Gathering event this week in Wicklow.
Wurzburg is the partnership city of Bray and County Wicklow.
Cllr George Jones, Chair of the Wicklow Partnership Committee, said 'I am delighted that 24 members of the Association had chosen this past week to take part in the Gathering. During their days in Bray they followed the programme undertaken by the La Touche family in late September.'
Their trip included visits to Bellevue Estate, Luggala House, Marlay House and St Patrick's Cathedral, all places very much associated with the La Touches.
Their also enjoyed visits to Glendalough, Mermaid, Bray and Greystones.
Chairman of the German-Irish Association Matthias Fleckenstein, at a reception hosted by them in the Esplanade Hotel on Saturday night, said they were delighted to continue their very close links Bray and County Wicklow and looked forward to special events in 2014 and 2015 to note the 15 years of partnership.
He extended special greetings from the Mayor of Wurzburg Dr Adolf Bauer to all.
Cllr. George Jones recalled the work of the late Kevin Meehan in establishing the partnership between Bray and Wurzburg and he welcomed Kevin's wife to the reception.
