Tweet is out of this world

SPACE STATION COMMANDER ASKED TO TAKE PHOTO OF IRELAND AND DULY OBLIGES

The photograph of North Wicklow and Dublin tweeted by Commander Chris Hadfield from the International Space Station.

ONE WICKLOW resident is feeling out of this world this week after his tweet to Commander Chris Hadfield on board the International Space Station for a picture of Ireland was granted.

On Saturday at 2.30 pm the people behind the @Wicklow_ Weather twitter account tweeted Commander Hadfield (@Cmdr_Hadfiueld) for a picture of Ireland.' @Cmdr_Hadfield could you pls snap Ireland, little rock in NW Europe!'

However Wicklow Weather may have to share credit with Newstalk's Chris Donoghue who tweeted Commander Hadfield at 1.51 pm on Saturday looking for a picture of Ireland.

At 2.26 pm Chris Donoghue then asked his 7,000 strong followers to tweet Commander Hadfield asking nicely for a picture of Ireland.

Tweeting a picture of Dublin and the East Coast later that afternoon Commander Hadfield tweeted ' Tonight's Finale. I'm not quite sure! Ireland, Wales or England, through a gap in the cloud. Where is this port town?'

He then tweeted 'Its Dublin! Of course! The orientation fooled me, and I took the picture! Colour this astronaut embarrassed...'

After the tweet both Chris Donoghue and Commander Hadfield were trending in Ireland

Hadfield is currently living in space aboard the international space station ( ISS) as flight engineer on Expedition 34, to be Commander of Expedition 35.

The Canadian astronaut has been orbiting earth since launching aboard a Soyuz super-craft to the ISS on December 19, 2012 where he will live and work for five months.

Whilst residing in the ISS, Hadfield has begun an interesting past- time of taking still images of earth and displaying them back to earth via his Twitter account.
