Trade setback for Baltinglass

The collapse of Baltinglass Chamber of Commerce is a serious set-back for the future of the town and could spell the end of commercial development there, the former President of the Chamber warned.
Wampfler Chief, Nick Carty, issued the warning this week in the wake of his resignation from the post of President, which occurred after the chamber found itself faced with difficulties in getting support from local business people and FAS.
'The Chamber of Commerce can not function without the cooperation of the local business people and we did not get that. It's a serious set-back, and I can see the town failing to develop. Had we been up and running we would have been talking about creating maybe 10 or 15 extra full-time jobs in Baltinglass. Now that will definitely be lost,' Mr. Carty said.
