The 'Tour of Wicklow' sportive was officially launched last week, and time is ticking down to the big event itself.
The cycle is part of the Skoda Series organised by Independent News and Media and in aid of Bray Cancer Support. It will be on April 12 from Bray Emmetts GAA Club with routes of either 110 km or 60km. Anyone who wants to get training can join in with a group on Saturday mornings at 9.30 a.m. from the Town Hall in Bray. Cyclists will witness spectacular views of the beautiful Wicklow countryside. The onward journey will take the cyclists through some of Wicklow's most scenic villages including Enniskerry, Roundwood, Laragh and Glencree.
'Our event partners, Everest Cycles Bray are offering a free bike check with 10 per cent discount on any parts needed for all Tour of Wicklow participants,' said Conor O'Leary of Bray Cancer Support.
Proceeds from the Tour of Wicklow will go to Bray Cancer Support Centre's services in Wicklow & South Dublin..
The Wicklow Sportive is part of the inaugural Skoda Cycle Series 2014 and is organised by INM Regionals who have put together a series of seven cycle sportives around Ireland taking place between the months of April and September. All of the events are chip-timed incorporating breath-taking views across the countryside in Ireland.
