‘AM’ by 17-year old Sofia Palacio Gallegos and ‘The Original Selfie’ by 14-year old Eva O’Hara, both from Loreto Secondary School, Bray whose works are being admired by Texaco’s marketing manager Bronagh Carron.

Students from across Wicklow will be in with a chance of winning the 60th Texaco Children's Art Competition.

The judging of this year's competition has already commenced, with many entries from across County Wicklow hoping to achieve success.

Among these are 'AM' by 17-year-old Sofia Palacio Gallegos and 'The Original Selfie' by 14-year-old Eva O'Hara – both students of Loretto College in Bray – which both feature paintings of female characters (one melancholy and the other cheery) and are both in contention to triumph when the competition winners are announced in mid-April.

Before this, the top 21 entries will be placed on public display at the Hugh Lane Gallery on Parnell Square in Dublin where they will rub shoulders with works by such famous artists as Jack B. Yeats and Francis Beacon.
