Sing and Be Merry at Mermaid

Bray Choral Society will perform two concerts with the Opera Theatre Company in Bray and Dun Laoghaire.

Soprano Margaret Bridge from Wicklow and baritone Cormac Lawlor, two of Ireland's opera stars will headline 'Sing and Be Merry' at the Mermaid on December 19 and The Pavilion on December 20.

Internationally acclaimed soprano Virginia Kerr will host the evening's entertainment.

The singers will all raise their voices in glorious carols and seasonal songs at the concerts.

Songs will include 12 Days of Christmas, O Holy Night and Lakme's sublime Flower Duet. Highlights will also include the unforgettable Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's Messiah.

One of Ireland's finest sopranos, Virginia Kerr is an experienced opera, stage and concert performer and has performed with the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Scottish Opera and Glyndebourne Festival Opera.

Both members of OTC's Young Associate Artists Programme, Bray soprano Margaret Bridge recently made her professional operatic debut with OTC's Carmen while Kerry bass baritone Cormac Lawlor has just returned from a busy month working in the Wexford Festival Opera chorus. Music Director Andrew Synnott leads the OTC touring ensemble with trumpet, double bass and grand piano.
