The search is on for this year's Wicklow Rose as the county heat of the international Rose of Tralee competition was launched on Friday.

The Arklow Bay Hotel played host to the event which saw a number of contestants who have already signed up revealed. The winning Rose will follow in the footsteps of outgoing Wicklow Rose Jane Harrison who did the county proud last year.

She recently encouraged any young woman in the county to 'go for it' and to enter the competition which can open many doors and present many positive opportunities.

This year's selection event will take place on Sunday, June 25 at the Arklow Bay Hotel where the Roses will appear on stage to be put through their paces and encouraged by family and friends to display their personalities and talents. All entrants will be interviewed by a judging panel prior to the selection night.

If you would like to enter this year's Wicklow Rose event don't delay as closing date is imminent. The selected Rose will represent the Garden County at the International Rose of Tralee Festival in August where she will compete to go through to the televised live finals.

To enter simply email Wicklowroseoftralee@gmail.com or contact Lyn 083 4631611, Pete 087 8141272 or Steve 0862505791.
