Report of indecent exposure at beach
Gardai are investigating a report of indecent exposure at the cove in Greystones last Sunday afternoon.
Two young boys suffered a horrific ordeal at the weekend when a man allegedly exposed himself to them.
Their mother asked a member of the Facebook page Greystones Open Forum to post on her behalf as a warning to others.
'I was at Ladies Cove beach on Sunday and my kids were climbing the rocks down by the marina end,' she wrote.
'I was watching them from the other end of the beach with my younger kids as many people do. There is a cave down there that gets blocked at high tide.
'Two of my boys went out of view so I sent one of my other sons down to tell them to get out of there before the tide came in,' she wrote.
The mother said that when the boys returned, the eldest boy (11) told her that a man had blocked the boys at the cave entrance, exposed himself and touched himself inappropriately.
She said that the boys didn't know what he was doing.
The mother said that the boys felt trapped and couldn't get past the man until the other boy arrived and his shouting distracted the man.
The mother went to the nearby Greystones Garda Station immediately and reported what had happened.
Superintendent Pat Ward said that gardai are investigating the alleged incident.
'We are making an appeal for any witnesses who may have seen anybody acting suspiciously,' he said. 'We are asking anybody who was at the cove to please come forward, even if they didn't see anything, so we can eliminate them from our enquiries.'
