THE staff at Bray Recycling Centre were heroes in the eyes of a local woman, who lost her mother's wedding ring at the centre.
Joan Delaney McMahon, who lives in Lauderdale Terrace off the Vevay Road, was up at the Beechwood Close centre sorting her bottles and cans.
'I realised my ring had fallen off and I was in a dreadful state,' said Joan. 'You have no idea what the staff there did to help. They really went over and above the call of duty.'
She said that the on-site staff did everything they could to retrieve the piece of jewellery, and even brought in staff from Wicklow County Council to help recover the item.
'I never take off that ring, it has huge sentimental value,' said Joan, whose mother passed away in 1973 at the age of 66.
'I said a lot of prayers and they were answered,' added the local lady, who got a call later that day to tell her they had found the ring.
