The launch was held in the centre itself and saw a speech from Chairman John McManus as well as music from local band Wyvern Lingo.

The launch served to highlight the range of upcoming events being held in the centre including performances of Samuel Beckett's 'Waiting for Godot' from 26 - 28 September and 'Alone it Stands' - which chronicles Munster's legendary victory over the All Blacks - from 24 - 26 September. Other events to look forward to include the Yarn Festival, which reaches its climax with the Scottish and Irish Night of storytelling on November 22.

A comprehensive list of upcoming events at the centre can be found at www.mermaidartcentre.ie or by contacting 01 2724030.
